Вот еще нашел learn the ropes get the hang of, get the knack of, learn the ins and outs Хотя "насобачиться" хотелось бы получить |
+ accustom; shake; familiarize oneself with (с чем-л.); grow familiar with (с чем-л.); see the hang of (с чем-л.); learns the routine, find one's bearing |
Я бы посоветовал get the hang of smth (НЕ see). |
SirReal +1 Speaking of emotional charge of certain idiomatic expressions in different languages, my dad, who first came to the U.S. pretty late in life with zero English, used to tell all Americans within the sound of his voice "Английский не такой выразительный язык как русский! Of course, later in my interpreter training in college, I learned that one of the first rules of interpretation is "Whatever you san say in one language, you can say in any other language." And if one is a good interpreter/translator, the translated sentence would have the same emotional charge for the speaker of that target language. My dad's example is kind of extreme; I did not mean to imply that maxima does not "feel" the English language in the way my dad didn't. What I am trying to say is that as native speakers of either Russian or English we get used to the phycology of our language, the way it expresses certain things. It is then very hard to feel the same expressiveness in a foreign language. At least for me it sometimes is hard. |
