jewl. A coarse, intrusive igneous rock featuring extremely large crystals some over 50mm in size. Over 550 different minerals have been found in pegmatites, many of which include gemstone quality gems like beryl, aquamarine, tourmaline, garnet, kunzite, and topaz to name a few. Pegmatites also remain a source for rare precious metals.
