mil., logist.Logistic Services of the Armed ForcesAn organization of forces and assets of the Armed Forces that provide logistic and technical support. Logistic Services consist of a variety of units, agencies, services and subunits which provide troops with essential supplies, movement and transport, maintenance of equipment and materiel, medical assistance, etc. Depending on the scale and nature of the tasks involved, the Armed Forces distinguish between logistic services at the strategic, operational and troop levels. They may also be distinguished as centrally subordinated and subordinated to fronts, military districts, fleets, armies, corps, divisions, regiments etc. Some logistic services assets are directly subordinate to the Deputy Minister of Defence, who is Chief of Logistic Services, and to the heads of main and central directorates of the Ministry of Defence. Others are subordinate to the services, arms or branches, fronts, military districts, armies and other major formations, tactical formations and units. (UKR/NATO)
