Nina79 I am not sure whether you are talking seriously or not but I would like to clarify a point of the Russian language that you may have missed. The adjective страстнОй cannot apply (in today's Russian) to anything but to the week in question or any of its days (страстнАя неделя, страстнАя пятница, etc.). Therefore, even if religion had not been mentioned in parentheses, any Russian would automatically infer that this actually related to Lent, Passion Week and Holy Week. You are not a complete moron, in my opinion, but you may find yourself in an awkward position from time to time because of some subtleties of the Russian language. Wishing you the best. P.S. the adjective for desire is стрАстный, стрАстная. We have included such nasty tricks in our language to make foreigners' life difficult, no doubt about that. |

Сюзи, перестаньте опрадываться. Это Вам не к лицу. Как я уже говорил, Вы вызываете у меня очень большую симпатию, и я всячески желаю Вам (как и ВСЕМ, с кем спорю, кстати), всяческого добра, любви ближних, успехов в работе, счастья в личной жизни и т.п. Про меня же сегодня сказали, что я похож на Саакашвили :-) Trust me :-))) Просто поймите, что нельзя в СОТЫЙ раз уже наступать на одни и те же грабли, когда Вы, не поняв РУССКОГО слова, даёте совершенно немыслимо ошибочный вариант - ну как тогда с саблеттером и многими другими. Если бы Вы лучше знали русский, Вам фраза аскера ***страстной (религ. термин*** СО ВСЕЙ И АБСОЛЮТНО ИСЧЕРПЫВАЮЩЕЙ ОЧЕВИДНОСТЬЮ должна была бы сказать (как она и сказала всем нам, грешным), что речь идет о СПАСИТЕЛЬНЫХ СТРАСТЯХ ХРИСТОВЫХ, а не о "желании плоти", как привиделось Вам. Ну просто смиритесь с этим фактом. Вам сразу станет легче жить. |

Nina79, Telepathy's got sweet FA to do with it. Russian "страстной" is not the same as "страсnный" (though they derive from one word). It is only used in religious context, and never means "desire". You simply mistook one for the other. And that's all there is to it. |

Suzie, ur answer was not boggus. Mr Boggus is a contributor here :-) ur answer was bogus. (as well as bogus it was also fake, sham , pathetically misguided, miserably mistaken, naively unprofessional, not well thought through, and uninformed.) :-)) Just relax. :-))) |
