During the mashing process, the sugar and
proteins from the malt are transformed into simple sugars and amino acids. In the next step, the remaining particles are
removed in the lauter tun or in the mash filter. In both cases the hushes from the malt are used as filtration bed. The
sweetened extract, called wort, is now pumped into the wort kettle.
