Subject:

Then the different writers have started to give me the books from love and respect to me.

He gave a book, wrote an essay. Then he realised ...

Почему the different writers (the здесь не нужно), from love?.

Then different writers started to give me the books for the love of me and out of respect for me.

various writers...

.. as a token of love, respect..

Then different writers started to give me the books for the love of me and out of respect for me. One day I came home with a book, which Zola had given me. My wife was facing to a mirror. She was wearing a new dress.
“Have you bought a dress?” - I asked.
“No, I haven’t”, - She answered. – “Your friend has given it me”.
“What a friend!” - I cried.
“Who had given you so many books. Charles Dickens”.
“It’s clear for me now, why we have had such bad dinners lately”.

Then/later various/numerous writers started giving me/ presenting me with their books as a token of their love and respect.

give -> gave

 Esmeralda7

link 7.12.2006 19:48

 Juliza

т.к. The one who has been giving you so many books. Charles Dickens”.

The one who gave you so many books. Charles Dickens”.

(Then, посмотрите на предыдушее предложение, может лучше заменить другим словом) various writers started giving me books for they loved and respected me. One day I came home with a book, which Zola had given TO me. My wife was LOOKING INTO THE mirror. She was wearing a new dress.

“You have bought a dress, haven't you?” I asked.
“No, I haven’t,” she answered. “Your friend has given it TO me.”
“What friend?” I cried.
“The one who gave you so many books. Charles Dickens”.
“It’s clear for me now, why we have had such bad dinners lately”.

Then [no article] different writers started giving me [no article] books OUT OF love and respect FOR me.

IMO & if I get the idea right:
Uh-uh, that explains why we've been having such bad dinners lately.
