Subject: The Ritz-Carlton Добрый день,Помогите, пожалуйста, разобраться: почему отель Ritz Carlton всегда пишется с определенным артиклем - The Ritz-Carlton? а все остальные отели без артикля. Второй вопрос: как правильно писать название известной марки Bvlgari или Bulgari? Очень надеюсь на вашу помощь! |
| my educated guess is that ALL hotels normally require the definite article. Since people don't live there on a permanent basis hotels are not considered to be address names, thus the definite article. |

Многие названия отелей пишется с артиклем. Недавно переводила инфо про Лас Вегас - так все (или почти все) названия шли с артиклем. Я подозреваю, что это связано с уровнем гостиницы. Второй вопрос: первый вариант |

just to support my views on use of the definite article - a quotation from BBC (a much revered source, wouldn't you agree?) http://www.bulgari.com/noFlash.php - Название пишется Bvlgari. Насчет отелей, думается, дань традиции (в случае с теми, у которых долгая история). askandy - 'most' but not 'ALL' as you said before. |
