Vitamins A and E act as natural anti-oxidants. Their main function is to protect bodycells against the action of free radicals in the animal. Vitamin D3 has a prime role in the Calcium/Phosporus-metabolism. It ensures healthy bones and a high yield of Calcium in the cow’s milk. Several trace-elements are added, of which Copper(II)sulphate-penta hydrate (CuSO4.5H2O) is the most important and obligated to declare on the feed label. Copper (Cu) has a role in the formation of bone and bloodcells and in the pigmentation of hair. Coming from CuSO4.5H2O, it’s present in a readily digestible form and therefore good available to the animal. Urea is added as a quickly fermentable nitrogen-source. It adds nitrogen at ruminal level so a shortage of nitrogen to ruminal bacteria is avoided. The total daily amount of urea should not exceed the mentioned level. The organic acids are added to ensure a shelflife of at least 6 months. They are technical additives, all tested on their safety for animal, man and environment, in accordance with EU-legislation. This is reflected in their E-numbers. 2.The product can be fed approximately 3-5 times the maximum amount as mentioned in section 6 without any expected problems. When the desired amount is exceeded over 5 times, problems with palatability may be expected. In this case, the passage rate of digesta through the animal is probably speeded up, possibly leading to lower digestions rates and manure with higher moisture-content. 3.The product is compatible with all known feedstuffs for dairy cows. Care should always be taken when feeding high levels of trace-elements as they might interact with each other in the intestines. For example: high amounts of Iron (Fe) in the ration might prevent the absorption of Copper (Cu) coming form the supplement. |
