Во-первых у этого слово изначально коннотация отрицательная, т.к оно отождествляется в подавлением и репрессией. Далее, в нашем государстве все вверх ногами, и сами органы, призванные соблюдать и поддерживать закон, его же нарушают. Предложите свой вариант. Но я продолжаю считать, что это правильный вариант. crackdown: strong repression: a strong and decisive measure taken against an undesirable or illegal activity or against somebody involved in such activity ( informal ) Видите слово undesirable, что, на мой взгляд, подходит для данного случая. |

V.Gloting in this context, the asker's "crackdown on" has criminal connotations as well. the criminal connotation is what makes it "good" when seen by the public though the idea of a crackdown imples that something "bad" has been happening. they began a crackdown on... 100% usable here |

| Имхо, чтобы подчеркнуть бандисткий характер действия - ведь используется не кампания, не рейд, не операция, а именно криминально-жаргоннное "наезд" мне кажется уместно воспользоваться shakedown, предложенным в форуме и на lingvoda. |
