Subject: денег жалко

Пожалуйста, помогите перевести.

Выражение встречается в следующем контексте:Министр образования и науки, говоря о перспективе взять на содержание военные кафедры в 35 вузах, сказал: "Этот вопрос обсуждался между нашими министерствами, и денег, конечно, жалко". Но признал, что "строго говоря, это справедливо".

you should not use "grudge money" in a text like the one the asker has
"grudge money" is very conversational - basically slang - in english the phrase does not actually directly translate and i would say that Mo is on the right track.

To grudge money - я такого в жизни не слышала, может быть begrudge money? Но это не сленг, а слишком литературный/поэтический стиль, типа стиля of The Great Miser...
