Subject: 1 штука Всем привет и еще раз с прошедшими праздниками!Помогите советом, пожалста :o) Перевожу вот такую фразу:Трансформатор ВД 250 (1 шт., 14 632,00 руб.). Меня здесь интересует перевод слова "шт." в словосочетании "1 шт." Если напишу pcs.(pieces)- это нормально, или в таких случаях пишут что-то другое? Может units? Заранее огромное спасибо :o) |

А 'газве pcs - это не множественное число? То есть, можно писать 1 шт. = 1 штуки. Consider: 1 no. (2 nos.) |

| off идет в связном тексте, чтобы отделить цифру количества от дальнейшего текста, особенно обозначений, например, здесь могло быть installed 25 off VD250 transformers - для ясности, что 25 - это количество. Цифры меньше 10 в этом случае пишутся полностью, тогда off не надо: installed two VD250 transformers. |

Не вызовет ли это путаницы?В одном из Manuals on technical writing я вычитала следующее:· Do not insert commas into numbers of more than three digits. (e.g., "1,000" is wrong). This is a violation of international scientific and engineering practice., as specified, for example, in the International Organization for Standardization, Recommendation R1000, p. 6 of Feb 1969 edition. This rule is important because a comma is used as a decimal point in some countries (e.g., Germany). Instead of commas, numbers with at least five digits on either side of the decimal point may have a space inserted between groups of three digits. |

Depends on your targer audience. If international, try to avoid any punctuation marks as advised in your excrept; if UK/US, I'd leave the comma (sorry, I have no Cyrillic letters on my keyboard today ))) |

| As I understand, I need to use commas :)One more thing: all these rules refer to a scientific style. Are there any special rules concerning sums of money. Or am I mistaken? |

United States Government Printing Office. Style Guide, 2000 12.14. The comma is used in a number containing four or more digits, except in serial numbers, common and decimal fractions, astronomical and military time, and kilocycles and meters of not more than four figures pertaining to radio. Как видите, для денег исключения нет. Впрочем эти два руководства (наиболее полные и признанные в США) расходятся в рекомендациях по десятичным дробям. Chicago пишет 2.375,203 против 2.375 203 у GPO -- но это после десятичной точки. |
