The word "gupp" in the quote you provided is likely a fictional term made up for the children's book "The Butter Battle Book" by Dr. Seuss. It doesn't have a definitive meaning within the broader English language. However, based on the context of the sentence, you can infer its meaning: It's used by a Yook character threatening Zooks who eat bread with butter side down. It's paired with "nonsense," suggesting it refers to something negative or undesirable. It seems to serve as a derogatory term aimed at the Zooks. Therefore, based on these clues, "gupp" most likely means something like: Insult: An offensive term used to put down the Zooks. Trouble: Unwanted behavior or actions on the part of the Zooks. Foolishness: Actions or ideas considered silly or unreasonable by the Yooks. Since the word is invented for the story, its specific meaning is open to interpretation within the context of the book. The author uses it to create a sense of conflict and absurdity between the two fictional groups.
