Subject: полуторополюсный avia. Used in the phrase 'контуры полуторополюсной модели' and refers to the balance of commercial / industrial competition in the Russian aircraft maufacturing sphere. It is analogous to the French economic model for domestic aircraft production. '1 1/2 polar model' sounds absolutely stupid in English.
