Subject: skinnies Всем доброго дня! Подскажите, пожалуйста, skinnie tyres это как по-русски будет. Есть вариант "тощие", но не уверена. И еще один момент, street car как противопоставление racing car как лучше передать?

| у меня сложилось впечатление, что слики это гладкая шина, а вот скинни именно узкая, нет? |

| well, the street car was used in a racing context. So it's definitely a car, not a tram. : ) It was used as an opposite to a racing car/supercar. With skinnies it's ok, I've even seen them, no problem to understand it, but looks like in Russian the only variant is "гоночные" and it's a bit to general in my opinion |

Чисто технически, слики могут быть и с низким, и с высоким профилем. Точно так же как низкопрофильная резина (в народе именуемая "изолентой") может быть и с обычным, и со сликовым протектором. Не видя контекста, нейтральный вариант - "никзкопрофильная резина". |

OK, so it's cars and not trams! Does 'street car' appear: a) as part of the phrase 'street car racing' (=уличные гонки); or b) in the context of street car racing; or c) entirely by itself? If it's a) or b), I'm not an expert, but it's probably a high-performance standard car (as opposed to a racing car) licensed for use on public roads/streets, but adapted ("souped up") by the owner to allow him to race it in events which may or may not be sanctioned by the police. Illegal events include gatherings of young drivers racing each other along public roads at night. If it's c), you need to show the whole sentence/paragraph so that the context is clear. |
| no way to show the context, I'm under NDA, no more than a sentence, it's my maximum. Yeah, I've just put an accent on racing car and omitted "street" for its opponent. That's a safer variant taking into account that both Honda and Lambo were qualified as street cars. : ) |
