johnstephenson +1 Oleksandr Spirin, поясните, является ли искомая вами фраза заголовком статьи? я не вижу словосочетания "connected traveler" непосредственно в тексте статьи (то есть в двух приведенных вами абзацах). |
| Хотя автор поста обманул, и connected traveler ни разу не "встречается в следующем контексте:", я думаю, the connected consumer здесь значит "искушенный" пользователь, то есть который уже отведал/пользуется этими гаджетами, но хочет еще большего индивидуализма. |

| ну то есть connected - это (в моем понимании) те, которые буквально присоединились [к мэйнстриму/стадному велению], "подсели". Уж шарят они или не шарят, но точно тащатся. =) |

AsIs: I've not heard it used in that way. The usual euphemism for 'addicted' nowadays is 'dependent', although medical people will tell you that 'addiction' and 'dependence' are slightly different things. So people will sometimes euphemistically (but inaccurately) refer to someone as being 'drug-dependent' rather than 'a drug addict', and will refer to someone as being 'alcohol-dependent' rather than 'an alcoholic'. However, I've not (yet) heard 'connected' used in this way. 'well-connected' is often used to describe someone who has contacts with (knows) important/influential people. I suspect that here, the author's using 'connected' in a similar way, but to mean 'having contact with/access to information, people etc by phone/internet/email etc.' |
