I'm not a medical expert, but could it mean to (put the shield back onto/put a new shield onto) the tip of a hypodermic needle after it's been used -- for example, to protect the nurse/doctor who's using it?: "Needlestick injuries (NSIs) from devices used for blood collection or for injections expose healthcare workers to the risk of serious infections such as hepatitis or human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). Safety features such as shields or retractable needles can help prevent these injuries." |
