Subject: "...or we are to consume in detail" gen. Помогите, пожалуйста перевести последнюю часть фразы (речь идет о плачевном положении страны): "I sit here waiting to see whether this summer is to bring desolation, or we are to consume in detail."

К сожалению, контекста и в тексте мало :( Но речь о войне Англии с американскими колониями и о возможном заключении мира. ...how provoking it is, when the folly of a few can squander the happiness that millions enjoy! I sit here waiting to see whether this summer is to bring desolation, or we are to consume in detail. The politics of Court I do not comprehend. They have brought us to a pass that we must accept a humiliating treaty, or submit to what shall be imposed on us when we are in a much worse condition. |
