Subject: Сокращения в письме gen. Доброго времени суток, ребята! Перевожу деловое письмо, точнее ответ ЕК, встретились вот такие зашифровки, может было у кого такое? Переводить или так оставлять? Стоит там, где обычно дату ставят..может вовсе и не дата это?CNECT/F4/AM/eb а еще в конце, под именем и подписью (f.f.) - лично? просто раньше такого не встречала |

Привет, ребенок! не надо это переводить Касательно f.f. возможно, это Abbreviation ff. and the following (pages, paragraphs etc.) Usage notes The abbreviation ff. is used in citation to refer to a section for which no final number can usefully be given. When used, ff. has no space between it and the preceding number and is followed by a full stop. If there is only a single section following, f. may be used instead. More properly, it is still used, as originally, to refer to the next page or pages in a citation. As such, Hornblower 258f. would refer to pages 258–259 while 258ff. would refer to an undetermined number of pages following page 258. When using a book reference to find a topic, one may encounter one or more ff. references, one or more f. references, and one or more normal references. Since an ff. reference means the topic is mentioned over several pages starting at the page number preceding the ff., it is normally useful to start with the ff. reference(s), followed by the f. reference(s), and then the normal references. |

Благодарю от чистого сердца, tumanov! И да, в своей работе я еще новичок) Просто смутило отсутствие даты, вот и решила докопаться и перевести-расшифровать все, что можно :)) Касательно (f.f.) еще подумаю, но там точно не ссылаются ни на что |

It looks to me like a letter reference number, possibly with AM as the sender's initials and eb the initials of whoever typed up the letter if it's been dictated. That's just a guess, though. The EC will probably have a standardised format for its letter ref nos, but there's no standardised format for businesses generally; they all have their own system. If it is a ref no, don't translate it, of course. |

'F4' means 'Unit F4' = Unit No 4 of Directorate F. Unit F4 is responsible, amongst other things, for the Digital Economy & Skills. I started by googling "CNECT" "EC" OR "European Commission" and eventually worked out what CNECT stood for, then worked from there. But it took a while as it's a huge bureaucracy. Now I know why we voted to leave it! |

а почему на мультитране нельзя ставить звёзды какие-нибудь, баллы/очки/значки за особо выдающиеся заслуги и/или в качестве благодарности? как на proz. или еще какие "лайки"? johnstephenson был бы уже увешан знаками почета, как выставочный пёс значками и вымпелами (исключительно в хорошем смысле все слова мной употреблены) |

| Other people make equally valuable contributions, of course: lots of people here give very expert answers. And it's fairly easy if you're a native speaker of a language but much harder if you're not, as there's more work involved. So good idea, but I don't particularly want stars/points myself. I'd be more than happy to award them to others, though. |
