trtrtr: At school we were told not to say 'bloody'. If we did we'd probably have got the cane. So a lot of adults said 'ruddy' instead, as a euphemism. And the f-word was definitely verboten. Now everybody says 'bloody' AND the f-word, even on TV (after 9pm), and 'ruddy' is considered so weak that no-one uses it. Standards ain't wot they used to be.... |
