We receive many complaints from people about nuisances and although we always try to help, we are only able to take legal action in these cases if the problem can be defined as a statutory nuisance. This means that:

a) it must be prejudicial [injurous] to people's health or interfere with a person's legitimate use and enjoyment of land. ... The problem would have to be persistent and regular to be considered a statutory nuisance - for instance, a one off bonfire or noisy party would not normally be considered a nuisance.

b) it must have been included in the list of statutory nuisances by the Environmental Protection Act 1990.
