Subject: intense purposes tech. Речь идет о расчете сопротивления растеканию тока. Вот фраза: For all intense purposes RA is an equivalent resistance (same as RE).RA - это R с нижним индексом A (сопротивление растеканию), RE - это R с нижним индексом E (сопротивление заземления). Мой перевод: Для всех глубин(?) RA является эквивалентным сопротивлением (таким же, как RE). Подскажите, кто в теме, я правильно перевел "intense purposes"? |

Ошибок в тексте пока не замечал, но допустим. Вот весь абзац: Dissipation resistance RA: earth resistance between the earth electrode and the ground reference plane. For all intense purposes RA is an equivalent resistance (same as RE). Тогда какие все цели имеются в виду? |

А почему именно "глубина"? Может быть For all intense purposes = For all intensive purposes = For all intents and purposes - Фактически, на самом деле и т.д.? |

Yes -- poor English. It's a misspelling of the set expression 'to all intents and purposes' (not 'intense' or 'intensive', both of which are malapropisms), which people sometimes adapt to 'for all intents and purposes' depending on the context. It just means 'in practice/in reality'. Example: "He's been to prison four times now for various crimes, so to all intents and purposes he's a recidivist" (ie, he is one in reality, even if he isn't one technically/officially). |
