Subject: In the House gen. The PowerPoint Presentation on this subject includes 1 sheet that includes benefits from “Investments in the House” and “Investments of Transformation”. I agree with this set-up, because we need to look at all investments in order to establish if the total return is good enough. Susan +1, Linch +1 The most common meanings of 'the House' with a capital 'H' are 'here in the House of Commons' (when a member of it is speaking) or 'here in the House of Lords' (ditto), which presumably don't apply here! 'the House' by itself is meaningless without context. Also, 'I miss detail' isn't English. It may mean 'I've missed out (ie, omitted) the detail'. The English in it isn't perfect (it's about 8/10), so could it be a translation into English or just a non-native speaker who's speaking? |
| John, when they write "I miss detail", they probably mean "I cannot see" ("I fail to see") the details. |

Linch: But if it meant that, they'd probably just say "I can't see" or "I fail to see" (as you've said) or "I'm unable to see". You can say "I miss detail when I look at things because I've got an old pair of glasses" or "I miss my wife, who's in Australia" -- but 'I miss detail' just isn't English here. |
