У кого есть идеи что-такое expander mandrel в следующем контексте:

In flowing applications, such as for safety valves, it is possible to have additional
retaining forces on the expander mandrel. This is achieved by using an additional
locking ring and shear pin configuration which hold the expander mandrel in the
locked position. The additional locking ring requires a 10,000 lbf upward impact
force to release. This jarring force also shears the pins holding the expander
mandrel.

Словарно это вообще-то
дорн, сердечник, оправка, расширитель.
непонятно, что в клапане здесь расширяет.

Mandrels, cylindrical pieces of steel with a slight taper, are pressed into bores in much the same way that shafts are pressed into hubs. There is one important difference, however; since the mandrel is tapered about .006 inch per foot, it can be installed only with the small end in first. The large end of the mandrel may have a flat where the lathe dog screw can rest. The large end may also be determined by measuring with a micrometer or by trying the mandrel in the bore. The small end should start into the hole, but the large end should not. Apply lubricant and press the mandrel in until definite resistance is felt.

что такое дорн, он же оправка, он же расширитель, я понимаю - для раздачи (увеличения диаметра) труб.

Непонятно, что он делает здесь:

Если перед раздачей на заводеизготовтеле, то причём здесь предохранительные клапаны на объекте? Ибо "Труба, она и в Африке - труба". Или для клапанов трубу расширяют как-то иначе? А для фланцев иначе, а для патрубков и штуцеров иначе?

Можно, конечно, тупо дословно перевести и не заморачиваться нюансами. Просто неожиданно как-то.
Наверное, действительно, не надо искать скрытый смысл.

ладно, оставим точность трубопроводной терминологии, у вас свой контекст привычный у меня свой.
Я контекстом ошибся. В скважину не лезу.
Теперь буду знать, что в скважине действительно для клапанов нужен расширитель. )))

Кстати, "трубопроводы" можно заменить чем угодно что более нравится по контексту. Не возражаю. )))
