Subject: acquiesce in / to gen.
wonder whether the preposition chosen is critical to the sense the verb is supposed to make
I think " to " means to comply willingly and " in "- by force

Usage note

The use of "to" after acquiesce was formerly regarded as incorrect, but is now acceptable.
