When the inclination is away from the end cutting edge, as shown in Fig. 1, the back rake is positive. If the inclination is downward toward the end cutting edge the back rake is negative. Back Rake Angle: The back rake angle is a measure of the back rake. It is measured in a plane that passes through the side cutting edge and is perpendicular to the base. Thus, the back rake angle can be defined by measuring the inclination of the side cutting edge with respect to a line or plane that is parallel to the base. The back rake angle may be positive, negative, or zero depending upon the magnitude and direction of the back rake. Side Rake: The side rake is the inclination of the face toward or away from the side cut- ting edge. When the inclination is away from the side cutting edge, as shown in Fig. 1, the side rake is positive. If the inclination is toward the side cutting edge the side rake is nega- tive. Side Rake Angle: The side rake angle is a measure of the side rake. This angle is always measured in a plane that is perpendicular to the side cutting edge and perpendicular to the base. Я переводил Back Rake как главный передний угол: Главный передний угол: Главный передний угол это наклон передней поверхности к или от наконечника или вспомогательной режущей кромки инструмента. Когда наклон от вспомогательной режущей кромки такой, как показано на рис.1, главный передний угол положительный. Но теперь встречается Back Rake Angle, который я не знаю как перевести. Side Rake я переводил как вспомогательный передний угол: Вспомогательный передний угол - это наклон передней поверхности к или от боковой режущей кромки(или главной режущей кромки, не знаю как правильно). Когда наклон от боковой режущей кромки такой, как показано на рис.1, вспомогательный передний угол положительный. |

из приведенного контекста явно следует, что отличие точно такое же, как и в русском языке, -- между наклоном и углом наклона: The back rake is the inclination... The back rake angle is a measure of the back rake. |
| Короче, та же самая разница, что между граблями и наступлением на грабли... :) |

| Я не очень понял эти сравнения. Может быть, back rake angle - это численное значение главного переднего угла, или, может быть, back rake angle - это и есть главный передний угол, а тогда я неправильно перевел back rake? |
