Henderson, who was appointed the Reds' vice-captain this season, has impressed for club and country.

Gerrard has always led by example for Liverpool, and Henderson admits he continues to be inspired by him.

"Stevie's probably not only the best captain for Liverpool and before with England, but in the game itself," Henderson told Liverpool FC magazine.

"Being around him has benefited me a lot. It's been huge.
