Polarity Check - This is done by ‘Flick test’ method. A Battery of ( 6V to 9V) is touched across the Primary ( Phase to Neutral) , with Battery +ve to Phase & -ve to Neutral, and a positive flick movement is observed in the analogue type Multimeter , on the secondary winding of the Voltage transformer.

Not that I know much about this, but here is a description:
(C.T. = current transformer)

B.1.4 C.T. Posterity (flick) Test
This test also to check the current transformers is correctly mounted. The apparatus used in this test a 6V battery and d. c. ammeter. The apparatus connected as shown in fig.3. Remove the wiring connection in the protective circuit before carry out in the test.
Clamp the positive lead of the battery onto the bus bar on one side of the C. T. under the test. Flick the negative lead of battery at he bus bars of the other side of C. T. Taking notice on the deflection of d. c. ammeter. Repeat the procedures for all phases and neutral bus bar mounted in C. T. If the d. c. ammeter shown in positive, the C. T. are then to prove as mount correctly. If the deflection is negative, the C. T. is being reverse polarity mounted.
