Subject: to get down to brass tacks gen. an idiom found easily in " The Mexican ", novel by J. London for instance.Which means sort of " get the sketch ", " dope of the point ", " real low-down " or so. But when you come to literal translation into russian and back it amounts to no more (no less) than " gawky politics ".(brass means copper head and/or boss in military ) Share your thoughts of what relates these, if you don't mind. |
