Subject: to get down to brass tacks gen.
an idiom found easily in " The Mexican ", novel by J. London for instance.
Which means sort of " get the sketch ", " dope of the point ", " real low-down "
or so. But when you come to literal translation into russian and back
it amounts to no more (no less) than " gawky politics ".(brass means copper
head and/or boss in military ) Share your thoughts of what relates these,
if you don't mind.
