Subject: "relates to" vs. "is related to".
товарищи, собратья!
Объясните, чем отличается по смыслу "relates to" and "is related to". Ведь в чем то должна быть разница!!!

A US lawyer would normally write, 'the matter relates to [i.e. has to do with] something, but '[some] matters relating [or, as frequently, related] to something.'

'Is related to' is occasional and rather rare in a legal context. But then it may mean that someone is related to (доводится роднёй) somebody.
