Subject: offsetting indebtedness fin.

Re-hypothecation of unencumbered assets
To the extent that the client has no offsetting indebtedness to the financial institution,
the contractual obligation to return equivalent securities is akin to an unsecured
obligation in some jurisdictions. The financial institution can in turn re-use those
securities, e.g. as collateral to borrow money in the wholesale markets.

На некоторых территориях договорное обязательство по возвращению аналогичных ценных бумаг близко к необеспеченному обязательству постольку, поскольку поручитель не имеет offsetting indebtedness перед финансовым учреждением. Финансовое учреждение, в свою очередь, может использовать эти ценные бумаги повторно, например в качестве залога для получения кредита на внутреннем рынке.
