Subject: латианус :)

эээ.. пропуталась опять.. есть такая рыбка новозеландская - snappa называецца, оч популярная. А американцы такой не знают.. По названию не могут понять, о чем речь.
В русской брошюрке про НЗ эта рыбка обозвана латианусом. Но такого названия сами новозеландцы не слыхали.
Как представить ее американцам???

А Вы это название на слух вопроизводите? Я тоже такой не знаю, а вот snapper - вот такой, например: http://store1.yimg.com/I/freshchoiceseafood_1860_869862 или такой http://store1.yimg.com/I/freshchoiceseafood_1860_868011. Одним словом, до хрена видов таких рыб-"собачек", не может быть, чтобы американе их не знали. И, кстати, не такая уж она и новозеландская.

the key is in that i am a gogol fan/scholar/russian historian and before i graduated from my university, wrote 200 pages about that fantastic man! while i was raving to other friends and students about him, they started noticing strange personality similarities... so when i started a new email account i decided gogolesque works (and it will not be taken already!) then it ended up as a nickname and i use it everywhere
wow... that is long, but could be longer!
