Electrical Function of Solenoid
The illustration below shows a solenoid actuator system,
and the air gap between the armature and armature top.
This air gap is the distance the armature must be
lifted from the orifice to obtain an optimum flow through the valve.
The coil needs to be powerful enough to overcome
the air gap and lift the armature.
