Subject: нахлебался? I heard the word "нахлебался" in a movie, but multitran doesn't seem to know it. What does it mean?Thanks! |

taken literally, it means to gulp down too much of some liquid stuff colloquially, it may mean: (i) to be fed up with smth (as Amorous suggested), or (ii) you can say "я нахлебался воды" when you get out of the pool spitting out water (having nearly drowned) (iii) you can use "нахлебался" to refer to your condition after eating up several bowls of soup/borscht (or however you spell it...) I presume, option (iii) may also be used to refer to liquor overuse/abuse... (as with "нажрался"),but honestly I've never heard it used this way. and, of course, this list is by no means exhaustive... |
