The entire vehicle floor is covered with square-patterned leather. It alone uses several miles of the finest thread, every inch of it sewn with utmost precision.

2 Тимурыч:
Where did "several miles" go?

2 delicious angel: You're not actually a translator... are you?

Actually, she is.

 tumanov

Одно только это требует столько ниток, что мама не горюет!

2 tumanov: "Actually, she is."
Right... Don't get me all wrong, but would you be willing to bet your arse on that? ;)

She seems to do a paid project. Confidence - 99%
Hence, she is a translator.

paid mean "translator" +1 ..... tumanov, btw, imho: "she seems to be doing a paid project"

Вот с исправлением спорить не буду. И спасибо скажу.
Сам так хотел сказать, но что-то остановило.

2 tumanov: "paid project... Hence, she is a translator."

a) What makes you 99% (and seemingly silly.wizard) certain she gets paid? Paying for raw translation like that is outward madness. ;) I'd stick to her version.
b) When I say, "translator", I tend to be referring to someone more ingenious than a parakeet with a dictionary... let alone a parakeet with MT forum. =)
Disclaimer for "b)": Entirely subjective. No offence meant. Any similarity to actual persons, living or dead, is purely coincidental and unintentional. =)

1. i only agreed that IF a person is paid THEN they are a "translator"
2. i do suspect she is being paid for this. not gonna put percentage - what's the point? but not as strong as 99% ;)

Too much argument over this is pointless... And yet here we are. ;)
I'm just gonna add this: back at the University my groupmates used to do the same shit for free - and no-one had as much as intended to commercialise the rotten fruit of their skill[/imagination]. =)
So yes, technically, they were translators; and no, they ain't got dick for their work; no "munny" anyway. Any incongruence here? =)

вот этот кусочек не понял: "... and no-one had as much as intended to commercialise the ..."

Best case - those translations were used up in them shitters. =))

i see your point ... still! in a situation like this, here is what i always do:

1. i treat the person (and set up the framework for interaction with them) according to what they should become, i.e. as if they are a pro

2. at the same time, i know they are not going to perform, so i set my own expectation (and plan) according to what they are at the moment ;) ... and sometimes they do no even know that

hence, i will treat this asker as if they are a pro ;)
