could be "encoding of data and code segments" ;)

"data domains" could very well be a possibility - a matter of propitiatory terminology, I guess. I glanced trough the Honewell docs and came across "database areas". But I suggested the most generic term without having the whole text at hand.
As to "via", my professors (and later editors) used to give me hard time over such usage. I developed a strong immunity against it since. But it's a matter of style of course.
