| Right Yippie, there are two types of sides. The first side dish is the starch that accompanies the protein part of the meal such as potatoes, macaroni/pasta, rice, etc. and the second type is the vegetable. Salads are usually not considered sides, they are in a category of their own when eaten separately from the main course. However, a salad accompanying the main course is considered a side. In America an example of this would be: coleslaw, potato salad, macaroni salad. |
