"Extricating oneself from slavery"
Это перевод от обратного - кажется называется "антонимический перевод". См. в гугле: extricating - это освобождение/ избежание/ ... Мне очень нравится это слово.

Хотя значение повторного действия "назад к" здесь не передано.
Но в 2-х предыдущих вариантах оно очень хорошо просматривается.

Я знаю, что значит extricate.
Только, тут оно лишнее, да еще и вместе со slavery

Почему “slavery”?
Потому, что:
1) Exercising my freedom of choice, I decided to resort to the antonymous translation method; and
2) "slavery" – это один из антонимов "freedom".
Как известно, “slavery” используется не только в прямом, но и в переносном значении:

У него оставалось мало времени.
2) He was eager to start climbing.
Ему не терпелось начать подъем.
Оправдан или не оправдан в рассматриваемом случае антонимический перевод is quite another matter. Вы не это спрашивали.

А выражение “extricate from slavery” гуглится.
