2.2 Turbine Protection System
The TPS includes two independent parts:
• overspeed protection system WOODWARD ProTech 203
• turbine protection system
The TPS also includes the automatic turbine testing system.
The TPS will shut-down the turbine using the following process conditions, which are evaluated in „2 out of 3“ measurement (standard 3 binary + 1 analogue for additional control) selection philosophy:
• Lubricating oil – low pressure 2/3
• Control fluid in the HP hydraulic system – low pressure 2/3
• Vacuum – high pressure 2/3
• HP part thermal stress – high value
• Overspeed signal (coming from the speed measurement module)
• Sum of boiler protection
• Sum of generator protection
• Sum of fire protection
• Turbine shutdown emergency push button
• Differential expansion of the rotor (HW signal from vibration system) 1/2
• Displacement of axial wear (HW signal from vibration system) 1/2
• Rotor vibration (HW signal from vibration system) 1/2
• Bearings temperature – high value 2/3
• TCS failure
