distance learning education obtained remotely; often based on written correspondence material together with audio-visual material and sometimes summer schools and local tutorials Т.е. ) |
Distance education From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (Redirected from Distance learning) Jump to: navigation, search Distance education, or distance learning, is a field of education that focuses on the pedagogy and andragogy, technology, and instructional systems design that aim to deliver education to students who are not physically "on site". Rather than attending courses in person, teachers and students may communicate at times of their own choosing by exchanging printed or electronic media, or through technology that allows them to communicate in real time and through other online ways[2]. Distance education courses that require a physical on-site presence for any reason including the taking of examinations is considered to be a hybrid or blended course of study. BUT "distance learning" I have seen more often |
а как насчет internal and external departments |
насколько я знаю, full-time and part-tiime departments |
darrina and atenza my Bad! I thought zaochno was distance. Sorry! |
Dear Susan79, you are as native could tell if there are such terms as internal and external departments of the University (meaning full time and part time study) Please answer it is very important for me to know Thank you in advance |
we have part-time students, yes. They tend to go in the evenings. External department? I am thinking. I think we call it something else, but I need to do some research. Get back to you if I find it. |
Columbia University has an external department. But to tell you the truth, I am not sure what that entails. I dont know if it is for part-time, full-time or both and I dont know what the course looks like. |
In Russia external students study themselves by strictly defined programme, the programme is nearly the same as for the full time students, but the quality of study cannot be compaired of course. They visit the University during the session time, when they have exams on the subjects which they suppose to learn in certain periods, they have lectures but very few ones, they are given before the exams and are not supposed to encompass the whole subject but to remind what they learned by themselves. After graduating they get the same diploma as the other students. This type of education is meant for those, who work and cannot afford to do regular study, it remained from soviet time and maybe disappear in the future |
Is it really called "External department" and the students - "external students? Sounds as calque, but it's only imho. Personally used terms " full-time and part-time departments" Atenza +1 |
part-time is not the same as external. part-time students go to classes. |
well, I don't know exactly, frankly speaking I took it from an old Russian manual for learning English. On the other hand part time study may define quite another process. For example studying in the evenings and that corresponds to our вечерний факультет |
2Susan79 Please, correct the following: full-time students - "студенты дневного отделения" part-time students - "студенты вечернего отделения" extramural students - "студенты-заочники"? P..S. I have been taught by non-native tutors, so your opinion is extreemly importants to me. |
I took it from an old Russian manual for learning English* |
part-time students - "студенты вечернего отделения" Here's the thing: I went to a Uni at which part-time students were not always at night. They did day courses as well. The hitch is that they had a reduced number of credits (academic hours) which they were required to fulfill each semester, which also meant that they paid less and generally graduated in 6 years, not 4. But, the closest you will get here in Russia (with your out-dated (sometimes archaic) system of higher learning) is And I assume zaochni are external. I have also seen it called "private study programme", and I don't think you will ever find a perfect translation for it as there will always be a difference in the systems. |
Боян: "learned English by bonk". |
Типа, how much watch. |
А что делать с 'English by correspondence'?
