судя по описанию, sludge judge похоже на определение высоты залегания ила в отстойниках с помощью батометра (coretaker):

this is the simplest type of balnket finder (...) to measure blanket depth with coretaker-type of equipment, you slowly lower the calibrated tube down into the clarifier until it touches the bottom. then, as you lift the tube out of clarifier, a valve in the bottom of the tube closes. a direct core sample of the clarifier is then removed as you lift the coretaker. you can then determine the depth of sludge by directly observing the level of sludge in the core sample.

кто-нибудь сталкивался/знает, как эта методика (sludge judge) переводится на рус.яз. одним словом? или нет прямого эквивалента и можно описательно - "забор пробы донного осадка батометром"/"определение высоты залегания"?
