| well, in america u would often hear, in the ohio valley, in the mississippi valey, meaning the same as the russian po- or pri (povolzhie, pridnestrovie). so, the dnipro valley should do. in english all geographical names r nowadays very often transliterated. so it is no longer bombay, it is mumbay, madras is chennai, etc. since most of the dniepr is in ukraine, i guess it follows that it would be politic to call it dnipro. just a suggestion, though. don't jump on me for that. |
