Majority world - как точно перевести?

Subject: Majority world - как точно перевести?

Помогите перевести. По тексту это может значить "большенство стран мира". Возможно некое противопоставление "западному/цивилизованому/экономически развитому миру". Меня интересует - знает ли кто соответствующий термин? Есть ли он вообще в природе?
Мультитран варианта "majority world" не дает

На Google Newsgroup "alt.usage.english" нашел письмо (2003-01-26 11:57:57 PST) с таким же вопросом:

A colleague of mine (here in the UK) showed me a geography textbook in which
the phrase "Majority World" was used to refer to what I would call the
"Third World" or the "Developing World". Is this phrase in general use? If
so, roughly when was it first used? Does anyone else find it meaningless?
