Subject: chocolate HelloDoes anyone know what деодорированное means, as in деодорированное какао-масло? It's one of the ingredients in a chocolate bar. Thanks much! |

deodorized |
You sure? That's what I put down, but doesn't sound like something Id want to eat. Perhaps this is called "aromatic" or "infused" cocoa butter? Venture a guess? Thanks very much. |
sweeten В текстах переводов: гл. 1) а) подслащивать, делать сладким б) делаться сладким 2) а) наполнять(ся) благоуханием, ароматом б) деодорировать |
i think you got it wrong. the word given is in russian. i need it in english. if "деодорированное/деодорировать" is one of the possibilities of "sweetened", the reverse is not automatically true. In other words, "деодорировать" does not necessarily mean to 'sweeten", if you see what I mean. i'm inclined to think it's aromatics, scent. but not sure what to call it in english as "deodorized cocoa butter" sounds ghastly. am inclined to think it's cocoa butter with added aromatics, thus my question. thanks for your help though. |

i'm inclined to think it's aromatics, scent. Then it would've been "odorized", dont' you think? |
Odorized sounds really bad too, unless it's chocolate jargon specific. Scented cocoa butter, I think this is what I'll call it. Thanks for your help. |

But деодорированное implies just the opposite, in my mind O_0 Wait a bit longer (: |
Really? Okay. Perhaps you're right. After all, dedorant is meant to take the odor away. I'll wait. Thank you :)) |
methinks деодорированное is same as дезодорированное i.e. with no odor |
so, in fact it is not adding/infusing smell, but removing it!!! |
This convinced me. Thank you, everyone, for your help! |
Hey Mushroom, I shouldn't have doubted you. Never again! :)) |
