"Выражение встречается в следующем контексте: Большинство предприятий сталкиваются с проблемой бактериальной загрязненности воды. Как известно, ток пагубно влияет на живые организмы, поэтому, пропуская постоянный ток через воду, происходит очистка от микроорганизмов и уменьшение количества солей жесткости в два раза. IMHO: Most industrial plants face the problem of bacterial water contamination . Current is known to have a harmful impact on living organisms, therefore, the direct current passing through the water allows the water purifying from microorganisms and a two-fold reduction of hardness salts. |

Нет чтобы просто и ясно написать -- electric current kills germs (именно germs, а не "живые организмы" - некоторые даже любят) |

Also consider: ... passing electic current through water rids the water of microorganisms and reduces the quantities (concentrations) of hard water salts by half. |
