Пожалуйста, помогите подобрать русское соответствие

At the end of week, I'm always caught short.
на мели - это если по отношению к деньгам, но

Sometimes i don't have enough cake when company comes over. I'm caught short.

catch smb. short = not prepared for smth.

На мели - это скорее I'm broke. Здесь, скорее - В конце недели у меня всегда не хватает (не остается) денег.

То же - с пирогами (или вообще с угощением) - Застать врасплох, неподготовленным.

This phrase is also understood in the UK, though over here it'd be more normally "caught short". It means finding oneself absolutely having to urinate (or defecate) without there being a restroom within attainable distance.
