acceptance certificate |
At our law firm we were told to translate akt sdachi i priema raboty as 'transfer & acceptance act'. Or just an acceptance act. |
kath, does "act" sound good English at all? For documents of this sort, I mean. I understand you have to do it this way, but how would you otherwise translate it? |
Tollmuch- act is fine, actually. Acceptance act is a valid legal term. According to Barrons: ACCEPTANCE act of volunatrily receiving something or of a voluntary agreement to certain terms or conditions; implies the right to reject. |
I would venture to suggest Protocol |
What I mean to say is that "acceptance act" could sound too much like what we call "закон", "правовой акт" thus misleading an English-speaking user of "акт приемки". Wouldn't "statement" be a better option? :-) Like, say, "statement of acceptance"? |

"ACCEPTANCE act" - действие (иногда конклюдентное, согласно law of contracts) по принятию (если внимательно читать определение Barrons). "accеptance act" is a Russian translatese. Self-resspecting lawyers write "(delivery and) acceptance statement" |
2Constantine - lets say you are right. But why the hostility? Mine is only an opinion. As is everyone else's. Perhaps our lawyers were sticking closer to the Russian because for their purposes Russian text prevailed? Whatever their reasoning, there is no need for you to try and insult them. I think this is a forum to exchange ideas and offer help, and while you may not agree with some postings - argue them by all means, but don't get hissy. |
I always translate as acceptance report. |
Service Delivery Report. И ни в чем себе не отказывайте :)) |
I would not deny myself nothing if were an invisible man. |
