Precautions during kiln start-up and barring.
During kiln stoppage, the oil on the journals of the supporting rollers may dry out. This applies especially at the “hot” supports.
Prior to kiln barring and each start-up it will therefore be necessary to supply the bearings with additional oil in case the journals have dried out. This is done to eliminate the risk of seizures between journal and liner during the first revolutions of the supporting roller before the required oil film has been generated by the lubricator of the bearing.
