Subject: spot welding strips under beams

Пожалуйста, помогите перевести.

Выражение встречается в следующем контексте:
All equipment which is constructed of more than one (1) piece or sheet of metal, shall be continuously butt welded together with welds ground smooth and polished. Butt welds made by spot welding strips under beams and filling in the voids with solder and finishing by grinding will not be acceptable.
