Subject: convention бывает в значении competition?

convention бывает в значении competition в англоговорящем зарубеже?
То-есть мне его convention'ом и переводить?
Как будет "по наминациям"? for the following categories:...?

Для гостей молодежного инновационного конвента работает выставочный зал, где можно будет познакомиться с изобретениями молодых ученых со всего Дальнего Востока. В течение дня участники конвента будут презентовать свои инновационные разработки перед экспертным советом по трем номинациям: "Лучшая инновационная идея", "Лучший инновационный проект" и "Лучший инновационный продукт". К концу дня члены экспертного совета подведут итоги.

Those invited to the youth innovation convention can visit an exhibition hall, where there are inventions of young scientists from all over the Far East.
