In the gas sector, ship-or-pay contracts are commercial commitments for the reservation of transportation capacity through a gas pipeline. The main characteristic of such contracts is the obligation on the gas purchasing company to pay for the capacity contracted even if such capacity is not used. Such reservation capacity contracts appear, for example, when the gas buyer is not owner or co-owner of the transportation system up to its national border. In this case, the buyer needs to conclude commercial contracts for the transportation of gas with the owners of these pipelines. It should also be noted, that due to the importance of the costs for gas transportation and to the often long distance between the national border of a buyer and the delivery point of the gas producer (or supplier), this transportation cost may represent a significant share of total gas supply costs. получается, что по смыслу то же самое, что и take-or-pay, только в данном случае происходит не отказ от получения товара, а отказ от использования трубопровода... |
